Apple so has me hooked
I’ve been a Mac user for, well, ever and I don’t think I’ve ever jumped into their ecosystem so badly as I’ve done in the last year. But, I’ve always tinkered around.
It started when I bought two iMacs for the kids.
Then upgraded to a new Apple Airport Extreme so I could use Time Machine over the network.
Last week, I dumped LightRoom in favor of Aperture. Mainly because we were duplicating just about every photo. One in iPhoto ‘09, one in LightRoom. At 8-10MB per RAW file, that gets very heavy on the hard drive. Aperture can read and write iPhoto’s library. That’s enough to hook me as I don’t need the crazy advanced features.
We just upgraded our phones from Palm Centros (which we’ve been pretty happy with) to iPhones. Next is an upgrade to Snow Leopard on all machines.
I’m just at a point in life where I don’t want to dick around with personal computers anymore. I just want it to work.
The only thing left to go out the door is my Linux Netbook. Which, while it’s not a Mac, is pretty much maintenance free and has its place. Though, if it gets replaced, I can see an iPad replacing it very easily.
