Oh AppleTV, I just may have to buy you…

Though I have no interest in renting programs from Apple, at $99 with a Netflix streamer and the ability to play my music through my TV, the price is just right for this.

That’s pretty much where I’m at.  For 99 bucks, netflix streaming plus a fantastic bridge for all the media scattered on the Macs in the house to get up to the TV.  Awesome. Out of all the other solutions, it also (to me) provides the greatest potential of being able to ditch the Cable TV, depending on the Networks participation of course.

Apple Updates iMac
Apple has updated the iMac, now with the Intel Core i3 and i5 as standard. There is an option for the i7 as well. All models have received updated graphics chipsets as well. With these updates, they’re gonna scream.
The 27” iMacs also have options for 16GB of RAM, 2 TB hard drives and uprated graphics from their standard configurations.
For the money, these are going to be tough to beat.

Steve Jobs Offers World 'Freedom From Porn' | Gawker

With a Stinger cocktail at my side, I dashed off a short, pointed question to Jobs’ well-known email address.

A few hours later—after midnight here in California—he got back to me. And I got back to him. And so on.

Apple so has me hooked

I’ve been a Mac user for, well, ever and I don’t think I’ve ever jumped into their ecosystem so badly as I’ve done in the last year. But, I’ve always tinkered around.

It started when I bought two iMacs for the kids.

Then upgraded to a new Apple Airport Extreme so I could use Time Machine over the network.

Last week, I dumped LightRoom in favor of Aperture. Mainly because we were duplicating just about every photo. One in iPhoto ‘09, one in LightRoom. At 8-10MB per RAW file, that gets very heavy on the hard drive.  Aperture can read and write iPhoto’s library. That’s enough to hook me as I don’t need the crazy advanced features.

We just upgraded our phones from Palm Centros (which we’ve been pretty happy with) to iPhones. Next is an upgrade to Snow Leopard on all machines.

I’m just at a point in life where I don’t want to dick around with personal computers anymore. I just want it to work.

The only thing left to go out the door is my Linux Netbook. Which, while it’s not a Mac, is pretty much maintenance free and has its place. Though, if it gets replaced, I can see an iPad replacing it very easily.
