God those democrats love big fucking government don’t they. 25% of all programming for minorities?! You’ve got to be out of your mind. If 2 sat radio companies can’t survive on their own due to the cost of doing business, how does this make sense? So you’re going to have 25% of your spectrum dedicated to what % of your listeners? I doubt it’s anywhere NEAR 25%. It makes NO business sense what so fucking ever.

Also, they’re pushing for “HD” radio (“HD” because, well, it’s not HD…the name just sounds better to consumers) tuners to be included in the new sat radio receivers. That would be akin to the German government mandating that Porsche put an engine from a BMW into their cars. The democrats say it’s to spur competition, however what it really looks like is the government writing a check to the NAB. I’d really like to see what kind of contributions the NAB are giving to these dems. It’s outrageous. Why doesn’t the NAB get off of their asses and make the product better. Let them compete on their own, without a crutch from Uncle Sam?! Oh yeah, that’s not a free market approach, the same one that brought XM and Sirius together in the first place because the free market dictated the business models and made it too expensive to operate separately.

They really are making me vote republican. As much as the republicans bug the shit out of me, this big government crap is really enough.

Oh yeah, and there’s not a war on, high oil prices, a credit market collapse, a housing crisis or any other big huge issues going on.
